Many first generation immigrant and refugee youth do not have natural mentors who can network with them and teach them how to prepare for getting their first job or applying to university. Some of the kids we are looking to match with mentors have parents who are not yet able to read and write in English fluently, which creates obvious barriers to success.
This is a 4-5 hours a month commitment for a minimum of one academic year working with a first generation immigrant or refugee youth!
Global FC is matching refugee students with caring and professional adults who can listen, guide, and provide meaningful opportunities. Global FC provides the training and ongoing support and resources needed to allow your mentoring relationship to be successful!
Mentoring time includes activities such as career exploration, personal evaluation of interests, aptitudes and skills, workforce opportunities, application and interviewing skills, internship opportunities, and college preparation.
